Tickets now on sale for Trafalgar night

Tickets are now on sale for the Trafalgar night celebration on Saturday 3rd November.

trafalgar ticketFollowing the huge success of last year’s Eastbury “Burn’s Night” dinner, it has been decided to reprise the event in another form. The Village Hall Committee warmly invites locals to a Trafalgar Night Dinner so that Eastbury can celebrate the “Nelson Touch” on 3rd November at the Eastbury Village Hall. This will be a “posh do” so Black Tie is encouraged. We think smart is good for toasting the “Immortal Memory”, but dress rules will not be strictly enforced. Appropriate Service uniform will also be welcomed (!)

Tickets for the event will cover a 4 course dinner, including port. Wine will be available for purchase. After the meal there will be two speeches. Steve (Anchor Face) Pearce will say a few short words covering the “Nelson Touch” and propose the appropriate toast. Liz Goodman will be responding with a balancing address titled “The French Maid’s Tale”.

Towards the end of the formalities, for those who wish to participate and lower themselves into nationalistic jingoism, we hope to be led by “experts” in the singing of some sea shanties.

Correct “Mess Rules” will apply, but easing into convivial informality.

Please contact the committee if you would like to join us for what promises to be a memorable evening!

Trafalgar Night – Saturday 3/11/18

hmsvictoryA couple of years ago we held a ‘Burns Night’ in the Village Hall and it was a great success. The committee has decided that we should organise a similar night but with a different theme, hence we will be holding a Trafalgar Night on Saturday November 3rd from 7.30pm.

Like the ‘Burns Night’ the intention is to get as many Eastbury Villagers together for another fabulous night. So if you like great food, humorous speeches / toasts, patriotic music, great company and of course the odd glass or six of your favourite tipple then this night is for you.

If you’re new to the Village this is a great way of meeting people. As with the ‘Burns Night’ we need people to help with organising the night, preparing the food and creating the speeches. Please contact the committee if you would like to attend and also if you can help out in anyway.

For your information the following link is a typical menu and format for a ‘Trafalgar Night.’

Smile and support the Village Hall

amazonsmileYou can now support the Village Hall when you are shopping on Amazon!

Anyone with an Amazon account can now use “Amazon Smile” to buy all of their books, DVDs, toys, gifts etc etc and the (allegedly) tax avoiding global mega-shop will kindly make a small donation from their coffers to help our Village Hall.

With Ch*****as coming up (don’t want to mentioned the “C” word in September!!), we are hoping that lots of villagers, their friends, family and even their colleagues join in so we can build up some funds to assist with the maintenance bills we are expecting over the coming year or so.

If you want to join in, click on the link above or just go to:

and sign in with your usual Amazon account email and password. (Note that this works too if you have an Amazon Prime account)

You should see the following screen, so search for “Eastbury Village Hall” as your chosen charity:

… and then select it and (inevitably) agree to the Ts and Cs.

From now on, if you go to, it will probably automatically remind you about using Amazon Smile, but if not just add to your favourites/bookmarks.

(Drop us a note via the Contact Page if you need help in setting this up)

Vote for your Village Hall

Please try to ignore your “voter fatigue” and support the Village Hall.

We are Berkshire’s only potential beneficiary of a Calor Gas Rural Community Fund donation. For us to secure the much needed boost to our coffers, we need votes and lots of them.

Please go to, register to vote and vote for us!
